How to add a date stamp to photos (digicam and film look)

The look

Old compact cameras printed the date in the corner of the picture, usually in orange. It is a small detail that makes a photo feel like a memory. You can recreate it without editing skills.

Step by step

1. Open Shutterlune and add your photo. The date is read from the file when it is there.
2. Pick a frame that shows the date, such as the digicam-style or film-style frames. See all 14 frame styles.
3. In Camera details, choose the date style you like, for example 2026.09.25, 09/25/2026 or 25/09/2026.
4. If the date is wrong or missing, type the right one. What you type replaces the detected value.
5. Drag the date on the preview to move it, or change its size and color in the Custom panel.
6. Download the image or share it.

Tips

• The date comes from the camera’s clock, so it can be off if the clock was never set.
• For a true film feel, pair the stamp with the film strip frame.
• Choose the date order your audience expects. Month first is common in North America, day first in much of the world, and year first is common in East Asia.
